Our Testing Process
Every platform in our rankings undergoes a multi-week evaluation process. Here is what that looks like in practice:
Phase 1: Account Setup and Initial Assessment (Days 1-3)
We create a new account on the platform as a regular user. During this phase, we evaluate the sign-up process, explore the interface, review the available readers, and document our first impressions of the platform's design, navigation, and feature set.
Phase 2: Reader Testing (Days 4-21)

Phase 4: Comparative Ranking
After all platforms have been individually evaluated, we rank them comparatively. This sometimes leads to minor score adjustments as we calibrate relative strengths and weaknesses across the full landscape of reviewed platforms.
Phase 5: Ongoing Monitoring (Quarterly)
We re-test platforms quarterly to catch pricing changes, new features, shifts in reader quality, and other developments that could affect our ratings. Our rankings are living documents, not static publications. When significant changes occur, we update our reviews and adjust scores accordingly.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not accept paid placements. No platform can pay to appear in our rankings or influence its position.
- We do not adjust ratings based on commercial relationships. A platform that offers a higher affiliate commission does not receive a higher score.
- We do not publish reviews without hands-on testing. Every platform in our rankings has been personally evaluated by our editorial team.
